7 Reasons To Love Group Fitness Classes

I know there are a lot of people out there who love to workout at home or don't have the means or time to get to a gym. I get that, I really do. I struggle too with fitting in my beloved BodyPump classes at GoodLife Fitness. I workout at home when I have to, but I definitely don't enjoy it nearly as much as getting out to the gym.

I rarely never go to the gym to use the cardio machines or weight area. I used to, but my time is limited and right now, I prefer the atmosphere of a group fitness class. And while it can feel great to knock out a workout at home, especially early in the day, I love the feeling of walking out of a fitness class knowing I worked my butt off with no distractions (have you ever tried working out with a  toddler crawling all over you?!). It's "me" time. For that one hour, it's just me and my workout and nothing can interrupt that. No cell phone, no whiny toddler, no husband asking where the ketchup in the fridge is (same spot it always is!).

A gym with a great group fitness class schedule is a must, and I'm lucky my gym has one. I can't ever imagine not being a fan of group classes as there is so much I love about them.

7 REASONS TO LOVE GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

7 Reasons to love group fitness classes via A Slice of Brie

1. THE PUSH

I push myself harder in a fitness class than I ever do at home. I know no one is paying attention to what I'm doing in a class, but the presence of others is enough to make me work my hardest and not give up. For example, I despise lunges. If they pop up in an at home workout, I immediately start to half-ass them. At the gym, I push myself to complete the lunge track no matter how much I want to walk out and take a "water break".

2. THEY'RE EFFICIENT

My time, (as is anyone's), is precious. I don't have 2 hours a day or at a time to spend at the gym anymore. Those days are long behind me, and to be honest, I have so many hobbies I enjoy partaking in, that I don't want to spend hours at the gym if I don't have to. Group fitness classes allow me to knock out a killer workout in a set amount of time. Other than driving time, I know exactly how long my workout is going to take. Obviously not every fitness class is created equal, but if you find the one's you love, than you learn to know what intensity level to expect.

3. THE UNEXPECTED

I like not knowing what to expect when I show up for a fitness class. Yes, the class is predictable in the sense of style of workout and sometimes the sequence of exercises, but prior to walking into the class, I have no idea which music will be playing or which releases the instructor will be incorporating. I like being surprised so that I don't mentally talk myself out of the exercise.

4. THE CAMARADERIE

Even if I don't know anyone in the class, I love knowing that we are all there to work on ourselves. We've all committed to showing up, setting up for the class, and getting our sweat on. We may be all different shapes and sizes, age and gender, but we have one thing in common: we're there to change our selves. When eye contact is made, smiles are exchanged, and I know I'm not in this fitness journey alone.

5. THE SILENT COMPETITION

This relates to #1. I'm not going to give up if so and so next to me can keep going. I'm not going to walk out of a class half way through because I'm tired or don't particularly like a certain exercise.

6. YOU'RE TOLD WHAT TO DO

Sometimes I can't decide what workout I want to do at home. Do I feel like running?, do I want to do a workout DVD?, or do I want to make up my own workout? Sometimes it's nice to just be told what to do! No thinking, just doing.

7. THE INSTRUCTOR

The instructor of a group fitness class can really make or break the experience, but I have to say, all of the instructors I've encountered at my gym, GoodLife Fitness, have been awesome. They are upbeat, they know their stuff, and they motivate me to work hard for that hour. I appreciate when they engage a class and make the experience, and the time spent to get to the gym and workout, worthwhile.

Do you love group fitness classes?

Do you prefer to workout at a gym or at home?

Favourite group fitness class? Right now, mine are BodyPump and BodyFlow, but RPM (spin) is a good one too!

Fitness Friday: I'm Baaaaack!

It's been a few weeks since I posted my weekly workout recap because well, I wasn't working out there for a bit. Not on purpose though, it just seems like if I miss a day or two of working out, then before I know it, a whole week has gone by and then two, and you get the picture.

Anyway, I knew the only way to get out of my rut was to just start again and here I am, with an entire week of workouts under my belt. I made myself do something active every single day and I'm feeling pretty good about that!

Fitness Friday

FRIDAY
  • Jim worked from home so I was able to sneak out for a BodyFlow class at GoodLife Fitness. I didn't want to do BodyPump because I was worried I'd be sore for Saturday's group workout, but joke was on me since my core and arms were feeling it the next morning!

SATURDAY
  • Private group class with the 'Blog Squad' at Orangetheory Fitness! I talked all about this class and the experience in yesterday's post.
Orangetheory Fitness workout YYC

SUNDAY
  • 3km walk carrying Sully on my back in our backpack carrier. I jogged quite a bit because he kept telling me to run and thought it was hilarious when I did.
MEC backpack carrier - perfect for baby thru toddler

MONDAY
  • Upper Body Fix from 21 Day Fix. I forgot how tough this is!

TUESDAY
  • Oh my gosh, my arms and back were SO sore from the Upper Body Fix, and I did not want to do anything this day, but I forced myself to do a 10 minute Yoga Flow video

WEDNESDAY
  • Walking hills intervals on the treadmill: 32 minutes

THURSDAY
  • BodyPump! It's been a few weeks since I went and I'm glad I made myself go.

I'm not sure what my weekend has in store as far as workouts go, but I plan to keep this momentum going strong!

Best workout this week? Mine was definitely Orangetheory last weekend!

Any plans for the weekend?

Fitness Friday: A Solid Week

Another week, another round of workouts under my belt! It's been a good week. I got in all my workouts, my meal planning was a success (meaning, not only did I cook dinner every night with an actual plan, but all our meals were delicious!), and I logged in almost 10,000 steps every day. No complaints from me for this week!

Fitness Friday via A Slice of Brie

Friday:
  • BodyPump at GoodLife Fitness. I made it there after Jim got home from work with a minute to spare!  I really wanted to make it to the class because I knew I wouldn't be able to go on the weekend since my friend Karen and her kids were coming for a visit. (12,905 steps!)

Saturday & Sunday:
  • Off. Unless you count running after kids at the playground and going for walks?! Saturday I logged 11,146 steps so not too shabby, but Sunday was literally a complete day of rest and I only got in just over 4,000 steps, ha!

Monday:
  • Usually, I take Monday's off because I've gone to BodyPump on Sunday and Monday's are for grocery shopping and Sully's library program. But most importantly, Monday's are reserved for The Bachelor date nights with my girlfriends. Priorities! Since I didn't work out all weekend, I got in in 2.36 miles on the treadmill. I'm still following Ashley's 5K training plan to work on building up my running base. So this run looked like this: 5 min walking warm-up; walk x1 min/run x 1 min x 10;  5 minute walking cool-down. (10,857 steps)
  • For supper I made Vegetable Beef & Rice Soup and it was so delicious! Out of all the meals I made this week, it's the only one Sully happily gobbles up. And the recipe makes a ton, so it's been perfect for lunches and I still had enough to freeze a few containers. I will definitely be making this one frequently.

Tuesday:
  • BodyFlow at GoodLife Fitness. I'm really loving this class! My abs are still sore from it. (10,103 steps)
  • Supper was Sweet Potato & Black Bean Quinoa Bowls, except I totally forgot to buy black beans, so we went without. These were delicious and filling and so easy to make. Also, I need to start roasting my sweet potato in cubes like this more often - so, so good!

Wednesday:
  • 2.7 mile treadmill run: 5 minute walking warm-up; walk x 1 minute/run x 1 minute x 12; 5 minute walking cool-down. (12,771 steps).
  • Another meatless meal for the week: Pan Fried Sesame Tofu with Broccoli. Delicious, cheap to make and even my husband loved it.

Thursday:
  • BodyPump! (6,330 steps)
  • For supper I made Quick & Easy Chicken Burritos. Oh man, these were SO good. And the easiest and quickest things to make, especially if you already have cooked chicken to use up, or cook the chicken a head of time. I dipped mine in plain yogurt and some salsa! I have a panini grill, so these were super easy to whip up and I'm already thinking about the different kinds of filling I could use in them.

And that brings us to today. I have no workouts scheduled for today because I'm getting my hair done! I can't believe I completely forgot to mention that in yesterday's post as something I'm looking forward to, because I most certainly am. I'm tired of the length, and I'm planning on having several inches chopped off - see ya later, hair!

For the weekend, the plan is to get out for a little hike with our friends on Saturday, and then Sunday I'll be hitting up BodyPump as usual!

How was your week of workouts?

Anything fun planned for the weekend?

Fitness Friday: Getting Back on Track!

Phew! February was a bit of a rough month since I was sick for like half of it, so I didn't really see much point in doing fitness recaps since I wasn't really doing anything "fitness-y" anyway. But I'm happy to be back at it and I had a pretty great week of workouts!

Rewinding to last Friday:
  • Evening BodyPump class at GoodLife Fitness. I officially got my butt back into the gym on the Wednesday before that for a BodyPump class, and it felt good to do two classes close together. It was a nice start to my weekend! (9,017 steps taken)

Saturday:
  • Off (10,903 steps!)

Sunday:
  • BodyPump date with all of these lovely ladies! BodyPump is a great class, but it's even more fun when you go with your friends. Terrible step day though as my Fitbit died sometime in the afternoon: 4,965 steps.

{Jo, Ashley, Becky, Kaella, Kris//Me, Jen & Leigh}

Monday:
  • Off. I needed to recover from the weekend's festivities! I was also too lazy to go get my Fitbit charger from my vehicle (where I charge my Fitbit) so I only logged in 2,977 steps for that day. Although I'm sure that's not far off from my actual number!

Tuesday:
  • BodyFlow at GoodLife Fitness. I'm always hesitant to bother going to this class, thinking that it's not enough of a workout, but this class seriously challenged me! I'm really digging the combo of tai chi, Pilates and yoga and need to start going regularly. Plus, the relaxation period at the end of class is heavenly. (8,759 steps)

Wednesday:
  • Back to BodyPump! I upped my weights a bit and am I ever feeling it today! (10,330 steps!)

Thursday:
  • Off. 3km brisk walk pushing Sully in the stroller. (10,330 steps at time of writing this).

So not too shabby! I'm going to have to try out childminding at the gym again because I don't always want to go in the evenings, and then I also miss bedtime every time I go, but at least that option is there for me.

And other than those two days where I didn't charge my Fitbit, I'm pretty happy with the steps I logged.

On the books for this weekend: hopefully an evening BodyPump class again, and then I'm not sure about the weekend. I'm expecting my best friend to come down with her three kiddos for a visit, so I'm sure my "workouts" will consist of running around after the kids, ha!

Weekending: Fun with Friends

What a fun weekend full of good friends, delicious food, tons of laughs, BodyPump, movies, and ice cream! I've made some really great friends this past year since moving to Calgary and I was luckily enough to spend a big chunk of the weekend with them!

Friday

It was beautiful out on Friday, with temperatures in the high teens (Celsius), making you completely forget that it's still only February! Sully and I made sure to get out for a big walk around the neighbourhood (which literally takes forever because toddlers walk at a ridiculously slow pace), but the warm fresh air was so nice. That evening, I got in a BodyPump class and then spent the rest of the evening reading the new book I started (The Kitchen House - I can't put it down!) and went to bed the earliest I've been to bed on a Friday in a loooooong time. Early = 11:00p.m.! Ha!

Saturday

Sully slept till 8 am, and I woke up feeling more refreshed than I have in weeks. We headed out for a walk shortly after breakfast thinking that the nice weather from the day before would still be hanging around, but we were in for a rude awakening. It was chilly and windy and we both had tears streaming down our face. And then later that afternoon it snowed! Crazy Alberta weather!

Toddler Walks

Later that afternoon, Kaella and London came over for a visit and dinner, and shortly after we were joined by Becky and Leigh. Around 6 p.m. we headed over to Ashley's house for her housewarming party. Ange and Jen were already there, and Kris even came all the way from Edmonton to join in the fun! I hadn't seen Kaella or Kris since our weekend in Waterton so it was so great to finally catch up in person. We played Cards of Humanity for most of the evening (so many inappropriate jokes that have to stay at the party), and I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Cry laughing is seriously the best!

Housewarming Party

I don't remember what time Becky, Kris and I headed back to my place, but I do know we didn't crawl into bed until shortly after 1 a.m.!

Sunday

After breakfast and coffee, we met up with the other girls, plus Laura and Jo!, for Sunday morning BodyPump! It was a super crowded class, but it's so much fun to workout alongside your girlfriends. It was Becky, Kris, and Leigh's first BodyPump class ever and I'm positive it won't be their last!

BodyPump with Friends

After the class, we headed over to Bow Valley Ranche for brunch, where I had the Elk and Wild Greens. It was something completely different than I would normally order and while the Elk salami was really spicy, it was a pretty tasty meal. I think next time though, I will be sure to get the Stuffed French Toast again!

Elk and Wild Greens at Bow Valley Ranche
Brunch at Bow Valley Ranche

Our group parted ways after brunch, but I convinced Becky to go see a movie with me, so we went and watched How to Be Single. I was glad I had been hearing positive reviews on it from my friends, but it was even better than I expected. I love when chick flicks are actually good and even touching (a few tears were shed between us!) I highly recommend seeing it if you haven't yet! After the movie, we drove a few blocks to Village Ice Cream, because Laura said we had to try it out. And I'm so glad we listened to her! After sampling a few different flavours (they were ALL delicious!), we both chose the snickerdoodle ice cream and I'm pretty sure it was the best ice cream I've ever eaten. I will definitely be returning with Sully and Jim!

Village Ice Cream YYC

The rest of the evening was spent going for a family walk, watching the Oscars, reading more of my book, and blogging! I'm happily exhausted from the weekend's activities so meal-planning and grocery shopping will just have to wait until tomorrow!

How was your weekend?

Favourite 'chick-flick'?

Favourite brunch food? I think I'm the only person out there who doesn't like Eggs Benedict (I dislike Hollandaise sauce with a passion!).

Thinking Out Loud {#7}

I just realized it's been over two months since my last Thinking Out Loud post! Not that I do them often, but I try for at least one a month. They're one of my favourite posts to read on other blogs, and they're such a great way to talk about a mishmash of topics without coming up with a whole post on one thing. As always, Thinking Out Loud is a fun feature and link-up hosted by Amanda from Running With Spoons.

So let's get into it!

1. I hate getting sick. It's been almost two weeks now since I came down with a nasty cold, and I think I can safely say that I'm just about 100% better. It was a rough two weeks though! I've been tired, unmotivated, cranky and ready to feel like myself again. I'm lucky that I don't get sick very often, but I still hate it.

2. Unfortunately, because I've been feeling so unwell, my workouts have suffered. I'm just not one of those people who is able to push themselves to workout even though it might make me feel better. This is also the point in my life where I so often let a few missed workouts due to sick days/weeks turn into several weeks. I really struggle with this, but it's something I'm trying to work on. I have to admit, getting out of the house to workout works so much better for me. Once I'm at the gym, I'm not about to turn around and go home or not finish my workout class (which I am known to do with home workouts, ha!). Last night I scheduled in a workout for when Jim got home from work and I went to BodyPump at GoodLife Fitness. This class never fails to make me feel great and even though I have a few weeks to make up for, I love that you can just jump back into this class with just a few adjustments to your weights (if any).
BodyPump

3. I was going to have a post up this week for the online book club I keep talking about starting, but all of a sudden this month is almost over and I have a few books I need to get through for outside commitments by the end of March. The last thing I want is to not be able to read the book I pick! I'll have a post all about it in a few weeks so that we have 6 weeks to read the book and participate in a discussion. Stay tuned!

4. Do you ever wake up one day and all of a sudden hate your hair? Like, yesterday it was fine, but today it's not curling right and it needs to be hacked off immediately?! I'm at that point. I also think I'm ready to let several inches go again. Time for a freshening up!

5. My sister flew up for a visit this past weekend and even though I wasn't feeling great while she was here, we still tried to go to the movie How to Be Single. When we got to the theatre though, it was already sold out! I was sooo disappointed, especially since it was the only night that worked for us to go to a movie. Instead, we ended up watching Room at home and if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. If you've read the book (which I did and really enjoyed), then you'll be glad to know they did an exceptional job adapting the book to film. While it's a tough subject matter, it's done well, but it definitely made me emotional and I'm still thinking about it several days later. Brie Larson, who plays the young mom being held in captivity has been nominated for an Oscar for her role, but I totally think the young boy who player her son in the movie should have also been nominated! His performance was remarkable, honest and real. This article describes really well, the thought process behind nominating children for acting awards and the recognition this young boy has already received for his role in Room.

Room, the film

6. Have you seen this video by Walk Off the Earth of their cover of Adele's Hello? It's amazing and like all of their cover songs, I enjoy it more than the original! Sorry Adele lovers.

And....that's all I've got!

When you're sick, do you make yourself workout still, or do you take that time off from working out/the gym?

Have you seen or read Room? Thoughts??

Tell me something random!

Fitness Friday: A Good Effort

I know, who reads posts published late on a Friday afternoon? But I couldn't go two weeks in a row without posting a fitness recap since I would be letting myself down! I do most of my blogging the night before a post goes up and last night, Jen invited me to the Bomber Brewing Beer Dinner at National and how could I turn that down!?  I've been fighting a brewing cold all week, so my original plan of going to the gym last night probably wasn't going to happen anyway.

Anyway, last week, I missed recapping my workouts because basically, after the weekend, they didn't really happen. And then I went into the weekend strong, with workouts on both Saturday and Sunday at the gym. I took Monday off, and then took Sully to the gym with me on Tuesday morning to try him in child-minding for the first time. I only made it through 3/4 of my BodyPump class before one of the caregivers came and got me. He had been crying for almost 20 minutes (my poor heart!), so I raced out of the class (I missed the lunge, shoulders and abs workouts) and went and grabbed him. It was a busy, busy day in childcare, and there were lots of crying babies, so I'm sure that added to his overall stress of being in there. The ladies working were all so nice and understanding, and we will definitely go back and try again, but next time I will go with the plan to only work out for 20-30 minutes and then build up the time so that he gets used to it. Sully's at that funny stage (well, I'm hoping it's a stage!), where he's afraid of being around other kids he doesn't know.

{Saturday's Workout: 30 min CXWorx followed by 60 minutes of Yoga}

Later that afternoon, I did hop on the treadmill for 30 minutes at home. I'm slowly building up my running and have decided to follow the 5k training plan that Ashley posted about. I've talked about it briefly before, but once the colder weather hit, I really let running fall by the wayside, despite my best intentions to stick with it. After doing a lot of thinking about how I approach running (both physically and mentally), I decided that I really needed to build up a strong base (again, both physically and mentally), and start from the bottom. I think I get so frustrated with running because I throw myself out there and expect to be able to run for 5k straight and also have a good pace. After reading Ashley's post (where she shares her 5k Training Plan), I knew this was where I needed to start. It's a slow start when following this plan, but I'm confident it will get me to where I want to be in 8 weeks, running wise.

After that, the rest of the week fell flat. Wednesday I thought I was coming down with the flu or a very serious cold, so I put myself to bed early. Luckily, that was the worst I felt, and I haven't gotten sick yet, although I still feel a bit "off". Today, I spent several hours walking around the zoo, and I'll probably opt to stay in this evening with my family and hit up the gym tomorrow for CXWorx and Yoga! Then BodyPump on Sunday!

So a quick summary:

Saturday: CXWorx (30 min), followed by Yoga at GoodLife Fitness (4,672 steps)

Sunday: BodyPump with Ange (7,428 steps)

Monday: off (10,175 steps)

Tuesday: 45 minutes of BodyPump; 30 minutes on the treadmill (5 min walking warmup, 1 min walk/1 min run x 7 and 10 minute walking cool down).  (10,909 steps)

Wednesday: off (6,391 steps)

Thursday: off (5,138 steps)

Friday: off (unless you count walking around the zoo all morning!).

I also initiated a 'Work Week Hustle' challenge on Fitbit for myself and all my blogger friends who also have a Fitbit and the competition has been really fun. While I'm nowhere near winning (I hate losing!!), it's definitely motivated me to work hard at getting in my 10,000 steps a day! I fell short though on Wednesday and Thursday.

So 'A' for effort? Here's hoping next week is a better one!

Fitness Friday: Snowshoeing, Yin Yoga and BodyPump!

Ahhh, I'm sorry for the radio silence over here...and therefore, the almost back to back 'Fitness Friday' posts. Such is life. But...I actually have workouts worth sharing this week, so let's jump right into it!

My week (which for the sake of these recaps begins on Saturday's) started off with a bang! In case you missed it, although I'm not sure how, since it's my only other post from this week (har har!), you can read all about my weekend in the mountains here.

Saturday: 10km snowshoe hike with a 310m (1017ft) elevation gain! I also walked/hiked a total of almost 15kms that day (22,331 steps).

Sunday: 75 minute Yin Yoga class (my new favourite style of yoga!) and a 3.2km hike. Also hit 11,738 steps that day!

Monday: BodyPump with Ange at Goodlife Fitness. The new release was killer. (8209 steps).

Tuesday: Off. Spent the entire day cuddling and napping with a very feverish toddler. Which would account for only 1585 steps that day - yikes!

Wednesday: Off again. But got in 7915 steps.

Thursday: BodyPump with Ashley for her very first class ever! I'm so happy to have awesome friends to go to the gym with! (12,015 steps!). I upped my weights today in class so we'll see how that feels tomorrow.

Friday: no plans yet. My house needs some serious housekeeping done, so we'll see how that goes first....ha!

YOUR TURN!

Best workout this week?

Favourite style of yoga?

Any fun plans for the weekend? I have some fun plans for being active this weekend, but I can't share them yet as they include my husband and it's a surprise!

Fitness Friday

Today, I'm jumping on the Fitness Friday recap bandwagon. I've been thinking lately that I want to start keeping track of my workouts in hopes that it will keep my accountable and motivated week to week. I know some people enjoy these types of posts, and other's won't. That's ok, I hope to provide some inspiration or motivation if I can, but ultimately these posts are probably for my benefit.

That being said, I'm not really sure how I will approach said recap posts. Whether or not I will post weekly ones, which day of the week I will post them on, what I will call them, or if I will switch up the title posts. So many decisions! (Also, any input is always appreciated!).

Since this is my first ever fitness recap post, I'm just going to jump right into it. Also, while I'd love to have started this at the beginning of the year, I didn't, and my brain won't allow me to go that far back in time to recall all of my workouts. So I'm starting from last Saturday and working forward from here on out!

******

Saturday: my official return to the gym! I took in a BODYFLOW class at GoodLife Fitness which is a mixture of yoga, tai chi and Pilates. A great hour of waking up my dormant muscles. Plus the seven minutes of relaxation at the end of the class are the best!

Sunday: the return of my beloved BODYPUMP! I met up with some good friends for this class. I've never before had friends who go to the same gym as me, so this is a really nice treat!
Gym Friends

Monday: off. So sore from BODYPUMP! I started a 7-day foam rolling challenge on instagram.

Tuesday: off again. Still sore, and so incredibly tired. Got in my day 2 foam rolling challenge.  I actually went to bed at 9 p.m. for the first time in months.

Foam Rolling Upper Legs

Wednesday: BODYPUMP. This time, sadly, I had to go alone, but it was a great way to end my day.

Bodypump @ GoodLife Fitness

Thursday: 30 minutes of hill walk/run on the treadmill, followed by the infamous 8 Minute Abs video that Jo and Kaella have been talking so much about!

Friday: 30 minutes walk/run on the treadmill.

******

This upcoming weekend I'm heading to the mountains with the Alberta Adventure Girls (AAG) for a girls adventure retreat! We'll be snowshoeing on Saturday and yoga-ing and hiking it up on Sunday (amongst some other fun things)! To say I cannot wait is an understatement! I haven't been this excited for a weekend away since I went to Waterton on a bloggers retreat last fall!

Despite My Best Intentions

Someone didn't want me to work out today.*  One of my new years resolutions this year was "Get Off My Butt", and I have to say, I've been doing pretty good with getting off my butt. Depending on the day, I can sometimes take a bodypump class (my favorite), on my way home from work. Even though I woke up tired and feeling like I was fighting a cold, I threw my stuff in my gym bag planning to work out after work today.  Because those "experts" always say, "don't let a little cold get in the way of your workout", right? Right.

4:50: Leave work (late).

5:05: Arrive at gym, sit in car for a few minutes to catch up on Facebook and Instagram.

5:15: Shit. It's been ten minutes. Damn you Instagram. Head into gym.

5:20: Start changing into workout clothes, realize I forgot my workout undies. Let's be honest here, I have "special" underwear that I like to workout in. Decide that I will suck it up and wear underwear that I have on.

5:23: Start to put my stuff into a locker and realize my gym lock is in my other gym bag. Because why have one gym bag when you can have two?

5:24: Panic because I can't possibly leave my bag and purse in an unlocked locker and I can't possibly bring all my shit into the always-packed 5:30 bodypump class.

5:25: Decide to run all my stuff out to my car. Even though I look like a fool in my workout gear and black boots.

5:26: Throw stuff into my car, which, I should add, is conveniently parked as far away from the main doors as possible because, hello!, this is the busiest time of day at the gym.

5:29: Sprint back into the gym, take off my boots and realize I also threw my gym shoes into my car. For F sakes.

5:30: Sit down on the front bench and hang my head in defeat. I can see the class has now started, I still need to fill up my water bottle and I still need to go pee.

5:31: Leave the gym trying to look all nonchalant as if I just finished up a workout. Shoulda just gone straight home from work to read Harry Potter.

*By today I mean yesterday, since that's when I wrote it. But I got distracted watching the 3-hour Bachelor Finale and forgot to post this.
