Weekending: A Quick Trip to Edmonton!

Hello! This post is coming at you a day late (again), because we got home late last night from a weekend spent in Edmonton! We hadn't seen my dad or brother since Christmas time so we figured it was well over time to get up there for a visit. I always feel a little disorganized after coming home from a weekend away - there's unpacking to do, laundry, grocery lists to make and I always fall behind in reading my favourite blogs when I'm gone, even though I think I will have ample down time to read while I'm away (the opposite always happens!). I thought three hours in the car would let me catch up, but since I smashed my iPhone screen earlier in the week (I knooooooow!), and used up almost all of my data on Friday, I decided to just ignore all the request for more "knacks" (snacks) from Sully, and listen to my audio book (To All the Boys I've Loved Before in case you were wondering).

Anyway, we didn't actually leave for Edmonton until Friday night, so Friday morning, I met up with Alison and Nicole (and our respective kiddos) for a few hours at Flip Factory. Sully and Miss D were so cute playing together!

The rest of the afternoon was spent napping, packing and cleaning up the house. I despise coming home to a dirty house after a few days away. The only thing that comes close to coming back home and sleeping in your own bed is a clean kitchen when you walk in the door.

We stopped in Red Deer and spent the night with my sister-in-law Friday night, and once Sully was in bed, we ended up drinking wine and chatting till almost 3am! Oops! Luckily, we all slept in on Saturday morning, and after a late breakfast and coffee, we ran out to a few stores before hitting the road again early in the afternoon.

We arrived at my dad's around 4p.m., and spent the evening hanging out with him and my brother. After Sully was in bed, I went out for drinks for a few hours with my best friend Karen, and once again, was in bed way too late.

Sunday I met up with some of my oldest friends, Lindsay, Erin, and Lauren, for much needed girl talk and lunch at El Cortez on Whyte Ave. It's been a long time since the four of us have gotten together, but it's always like no time has passed. We joked afterwards that we could have easily talked for a whole day and that next time we need to bring notes so we don't forget to bring anything up! Oh, and we need to work on our selfie game because poor Lauren was almost completely cut out of our picture!

Sully was napping when I got back to my dad's, but once he was up, we headed out to a playground near by. The rest of the evening was spent hanging out, having dinner and watching some of the Junos. I went to bed early, hoping to catch up on some sleep.

Yesterday (Monday), we spent the morning with my brother and packing up. Then we drove around our old neighbourhood and passed our old house, before taking Sully to his 2 year check-up with his paediatrician. Yes, I am not ready to let go of his amazing paediatrician in Edmonton, so I will continue with yearly appointments until he retires, haha!

On our way back to Calgary, we stopped in at my sister-in-law's place so Sully could see his cousins. He is just smitten with all three of them and I know it won't be long before he's asking to go over to play with them every day! I foresee much more frequent trips to Red Deer in our future.

And now, here I am, typing this up before heading to bed myself! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Tell me something fun you did this weekend!

Are you enjoying amazingly warm weather for this time of year where you live?
